Reputation Management

The good news is that reputation management can happen across many channels. The bad news is reputation can just as easily be damaged across these same channels. Warren Buffet said, “It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it.” Wise words. 

Reputation is how others perceive your organization. It’s shaped by many things such as what you say and how you act. In the internet age, information spreads quicker than a virus. One misstep can have serious consequences. 

Your organization’s reputation should tie back to its values and people will be more than happy to hold you to them. 

PR people like to make sure you stay on message. That’s pretty good advice but it can come back to bite you in certain situations. 

In a world where there are many messages and a whole lot of spin, authenticity is key. So is transparency. We aren’t advocating that you spill your competitive secrets online. Only that you be authentic and honest. If your not Mr. Buffet’s quote will come to define your organization in ways that will make your worst nightmares look tame.
